Ashley Leonard began practicing yoga almost 15 years ago. Yoga brought her peace and strength during a demanding career in finance. Now it helps her to remain mindful, balanced, and flexible amid the chaos of raising 3 happy and busy young kids. She appreciates all forms of athletic activity, is an avid runner, and considers yoga preventative physical and mental therapy for life!
Ashley firmly believes that anyone can appreciate the benefits yoga and is passionate about bringing yoga to both kids and adults. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (200 hours) through Yoga Alliance. She also holds two degrees from the University of Virginia, a BS in Commerce from the McIntire School and an MBA from the Darden School.
With adults, Ashley practices power vinyasa flow which is an athletic, dynamic form of yoga, where postures are linked together using breath. Classes feature creative sequencing with a focus on strength as well as alignment so students can safely and effectively get the most out of each practice. Lots of modifications are offered so those who are new to yoga can easily practice alongside those with more experience.
Classes for kids offer the opportunity to explore the benefits of yoga in a safe, creative, inclusive, and, most importantly, FUN environment! A consistent yoga practice for children can increase focus, self-esteem, and overall physical fitness. Kids learn basic yoga postures through games, music, and fun. Yoga postures help girls and boys to gain strength, flexibility, and coordination in an interactive and non-competitive setting. Kids learn several breathing techniques, which can be used outside of class to help deal with stress, focus awareness, and experience calm. Classes are tailored to specific age groups and offered to preschool ages through middle school.
